Mumbai - my cup of (Masala) tea
Journal Entry: Tue Jan 2, 2007, 10:17 AM
Ginger; mint; cardamon; star anise; peppercorn; cinnamon.
Few would have guessed a tea made of these seemingly conflicting ingredients could taste so good.
Mumbai is such a pot of Masala tea - with its potpourri of locals (Maharashtrians), Indians from other states, and foreigners.
Even time has collapsed onto itself in this crowded city - cows and goats grazing on grass alongside roads flanked by buildings from the Victorian era traveled by an occasional Mercedes or Peugot.
Mumbai is not part of India, one of my professors insisted.
I could see why.
Hotels, horse carriages and locals who go "Konichiwa!... annyunghaseyo! No? From China?" abound, gearing to glean that extra rupee from tourists.
But this, of course, is not a fair appraisal of the city.
Paint a better picture from my upcoming photos you may.
Or finish up your cup of Masala tea.
What's been left behind may be telling.

Many people around me seem to know 3 languages, but I'm stuck at 2.
Luckily I can manage a smattering of Chinese dialects. Won't be banished to hell.
You learnt Spanish in school?
I'll be leaving for another distant beach tomorrow. Haha. Taking a short break from ads.

Replying late again. Sorry!
You know Italian! That's nice.
So how many languages have you mastered?
I think DA's more like a place for me to upload and admire (others') pics, as opposed to a chatting and blogging site. That's why I don't come here too often.
Hmm I'm in this Crafting Creative Communication course in India. Yup. Busy creating ads now.
Returning to Singapore in June.

The magic of photography is metaphysical. What you see in the photograph isn't what you saw at the time. The real skill of photography is organised visual lying.

Sorry I've not replied your E-mail! Came back from Goa like a day ago, and was swarmed with work and everything. >_<
How are you getting on?
I took both Sleepless Nights and Beautiful View in the evening, on different beaches.
For the former, I lowered shutter speed to 1/1500 so that minimal light will get into the shot - hence the surrealistic feel.
I was lucky to have a beautiful setting, to begin with!
For Beautiful View, I used one of the warm filters... yup...
